Al-Maqari Al-Qur’aniyyah UK is an institute founded to advance Qur'anic education and the qualification of Huffādh, Imams, and teachers across the UK, Europe, and the West. Our primary mission is to reignite the desire to fulfill the ultimate purpose of revelation - Taddabur (contemplation) in the hearts of all who pass through our doors, guiding them to achieve this through the correct recitation (Tartīl) as ordained by Allah ﷻ.
Allah ﷻ commands in the Qur’an:
﴿كِتابٌ أَنزَلناهُ إِلَيكَ مُبارَكٌ لِيَدَّبَّروا آياتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُولُو الأَلبابِ﴾
˹This is˺ a blessed Book which We have revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ so that they may contemplate its verses, and people of reason may be mindful.
[Ṣād: 29]
And:
﴾وَرَتِّلِ القُرآنَ تَرتيلًا﴿
…recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly.
[Al-Muzzammil: 4]
Our initiative aims to deepen understanding and mastery of Tartīl by nurturing the correct Adā’ (a person’s overall delivery of the Qur'an), encompassing both the technical aspects of recitation, such as Tajwīd, as well as their emotional and spiritual engagement with the Qur'an thus their presentation of its meanings.
Through a structured academic framework that adheres to the rigorous standards set by experts in Riwāyah (transmission), Dirāyah (theory), and Athar (historical tradition), we strive to raise the quality of Qur'anic recitation and reflection, fulfilling both the technical and spiritual dimensions of this noble pursuit.
Halaqat form the foundation of our project, ensuring that the principles of tarteel, taddabur, and exemplary conduct are continuously upheld. Rooted in the concept of Tahqeeq, these gatherings focus on mastering the application of tajweed, reciting as close as possible to the way the Prophet ﷺ recited.
Established nine years ago, our first halaqah, through Allah’s permission, continues to grow, nurturing generations of huffadh, Qur'an teachers and imams. Moreover, Halaqat of the same format have been started around London by students of the original halaqah. These gatherings emphasise the etiquettes of teaching and learning, as passed down from the Prophet ﷺ, his companions, and the righteous predecessors.
We carefully select and share Ahādith and sayings of the Sahābah and Salaf as reminders, starting with ourselves and extending to anyone seeking benefit and striving to become closer to Allah. The Prophetic Sunnah series encourages following all of the Prophet ﷺ’s teachings and taking him as the best example, while the Purification of the Souls series aims to purify the soul and soften the heart.
