Young Huffadh

Student Journey

The Young Huffādh Programme (ages 7–16) is designed with younger learners in mind, offering shorter, age-appropriate activities like 2–4-week intensive courses with recreational elements. While the adult programme assumes a baseline of Qur’anic proficiency and maturity, the young Huffādh programme integrates foundational Tajwīd, interactive tools, and pastoral care to accommodate the developmental needs of children and adolescents, reserving travel to Madinah for those aged 14–18. The programme also takes into account the vital role of parents, involving them to help them learn how to best support their child in this noble journey.

Attending Majālis At-Tahqīq

Currently brothers only

The Majālis At-Tahqīq form the foundation of the young Huffādh’s journey, just as they do for adults. These gatherings aim to instil love and dedication to Qur’anic recitation and study.
"No people gather in a house from the houses of Allah, reciting His Book and studying it among themselves, except that peace descends upon them, the mercy of Allah envelops them, the angels surround them, and Allah mentions them to those near Him [the angels]."
For this reason, attending Majālis At-Tahqīq is the first step in everyone’s journey, and participation is highly recommended for those wishing to progress further.
Begin 1-to-1 Lessons
In Person
Young Huffādh recite to their teachers and receive tailored feedback. Lessons are structured to ensure gradual improvement while building their confidence.
Online
For students living too far from the institution, online lessons are available, with a focus on interactive tools and multimedia resources to engage younger learners.
Courses in the Qur'anic Sciences
Young Huffādh are introduced to the sciences of Tajwīd and other essential Qur’anic studies. Beginner tracks focus on fundamental Tajwīd rules and progressively advance to deeper studies.

For younger participants, visual aids, animations, and quizzes are used to make learning interactive. Courses emphasise practical applications of Qur’anic teachings in everyday life to foster relevance and understanding.
Southfields Main Halaqah
Istiqtāb: UK
Participants attend a shorter, 2–4-week intensive programme, providing focused learning opportunities with their teachers in person. The curriculum balances Qur’anic studies with age-appropriate recreational activities, such as Islamic-themed games, outings, and group discussions.
Istiqtāb: Madīnah
Students who are prepared and have met the required milestones may travel to Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah to study under Qur’anic scholars (with parental consent). They recite to the mashāyikh and attend halaqāt in the Prophet’s Mosque ﷺ. Younger participants are offered virtual connections with Madinah scholars until they reach the appropriate age.
Upon Return
Young Huffādh are encouraged to share their knowledge through youth-friendly platforms, such as mentoring peers, assisting in teaching younger students of Al-Maqari UK, and organising community events like competitions and workshops.
Emphasis is placed on youth leadership roles in schools, madrasas, and community events, with structured support for younger participants to build confidence in sharing their knowledge.

Beyond

The journey continues as young Huffādh are taught that the pursuit of knowledge is lifelong. Follow-up programmes include refresher courses, regular check-ins, and mentoring by teachers to sustain their progress. Stories of scholars who began as young Huffādh inspire participants to remain dedicated to their Qur’anic journey. Upon reaching 18 years of age, students on this program are integrated into the student journey and continue the cycle of learning and teaching.
